Gizzy Boardriders toast Vette

13th November 2018 Gisborne Herald

SAFFI Vette is the pride of Gisborne Boardriders Club after a fine performance at the Women’s Qualifying Series Port Stephens Toyota Pro at Birubi Beach, New South Wales.

Vette, hot off representing New Zealand at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in California, made it through to Round 3 of the 6000-rated event.

She was second in her Round 1 heat with a score of 9.67 (5.5, 4.17) for her two best waves, and was second in Round 2 with 12 (7.67, 4.33) to advance to Round 3. Vette placed fourth in her Round 3 heat with 7.20 (3.77, 3.43) to finish 37th-equal.

Taranaki pro surfer Paige Hareb advanced to the quarterfinals and in doing so gained enough points to requalify for next year’s Women’s Championship Tour.
