Our rated club series is a great way for officials to get experience under the guidance of a contest director & head judge & we always welcome volunteers to become involved. We realize it is not only important to get the correct result, but also to judge consistently, so that our competitors can gauge their improvement.
Generally good judging = a good contest. We find the actual conditions aren’t so important, for our rated comps, however we will would be more selective for our Speciality Events, like the Mike Lewin Comp.
We aim to complete our contests in 1 day & will generally run Saturdays if safe conditions allow, but Sundays are our back ups. The exceptions are around the Comps that conflict with winter sport. It is important people register online for contests so we can communicate with competitors & collect information for health & safety purposes, as well as determine draws in advance of contest day. Early registration also ensures you get to compete, otherwise there may not be room in the draw to accommodate late entries on the day of competition.
Volunteers are the backbone of any sports club and so for Gisborne Boardriders Club. If you have a passion for something and want to make difference, meet new people or just want to be part of the Boardriders community we want to hear from you.
Give as much time as you want, choose what you care most about or take on a challenge. We try to upskill our volunteers whenever we can. For us it’s all about having fun and sharing the stoke.
